Biography:
Dr Beierer graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Queensland and immediately undertook a rotating internship at Queensland Veterinary Specialists. Surgical internships in Adelaide and Perth followed, along with a tertiary qualification in adult education.
Next, Lucas undertook a residency in small animal surgery at Murdoch University while he was also investigating the biomechanics of locking plates as part of his masters of veterinary surgery.
In 2011, Lucas was accepted by examination as a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (surgery chapter). He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in small animal surgery in 2015, and an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Orthopaedics in 2016. He spent several years working in the Northwest of England prior to returning home to Brisbane.
Lucas is now a director at Queensland Veterinary Specialists. He is certified to perform total hip replacements and has extensive experience in minimally invasive traumatology. Lucas is active faculty with AOVET and serves on the Asia Pacific Board.
Lucas has an easygoing teaching style and is an experienced educator. One of his goals is to share the technical aspects of surgery which improve safety and efficacy in the general practice setting.
