Biography:
Kate is a veterinary nurse and technician with over 20 years of experience. She started out in general practice in Melbourne and Western Australia, prior to progressing into full time emergency nursing at the Animal Emergency Centre. In 2011, Kate moved to the UK where she worked as a locum nurse for 5 years, embracing the chance to join numerous practices and hospitals including the Royal Veterinary College, University of London and Queen Mother Hospitals, within the medicine, surgery and ECC departments.
Since returning to Australia in 2016, Kate has focused on surgical nursing in veterinary speciality and referral hospitals. In 2018, she became the Head Surgical Nurse at the Animal Referral Hospital Melbourne, and was an integral part of starting up the specialist surgical department. In 2021, her studies took her interstate to Brisbane where she worked at the Veterinary Specialist Services as a surgical supervisor, pursuing her passion for anaesthesia and analgesia.
Kate’s qualifications include being a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, United Kingdom. She has a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, obtained through the Animal Industries Resource Centre in Australia, and she is a veterinary technician specialist (VTS) in anaesthesia and analgesia (USA).
