Biography:
Alasdair is a specialist in small animal orthopaedic surgery, recognized in Australia and the UK. After graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 1996, he spent 11 years in general practice before specializing in orthopaedics and spinal surgery. He trained at Willows Referral Centre, earning the RCVS Diploma in Orthopaedics in 2011, then moved to Scotland’s busiest orthopaedic referral clinic, gaining expertise in treating working spaniels and Labradors.
In 2018, he emigrated to Australia and joined Peninsula Vet ERH in 2021. Alasdair has lectured in the UK and Australia, led Vietnam’s first veterinary orthopaedic conference, and is a faculty member of the AO Foundation. His research covers cranial cruciate ligament disease, hip replacements, spinal stabilisation, and limb-sparing surgery.
His special interests include TPLO, lameness, complex fractures, hip replacements, growth deformities, and spinal stabilisation, with a focus on getting working dogs back to peak performance. His pet family includes a scruffy six-year-old border terrier, and he grew up with greyhounds and cats.
