Perineal and urogenital surgery might sound niche, but the truth is you already see these cases in everyday practice. This workshop gives you the chance to develop your skills, practice under expert guidance, and gain hands-on experience in a supportive, clinical environment. Across two days, you’ll tackle a range of procedures with specialist surgeons and our top-notch workshop team by your side.
What you’ll learn & perform:
- Open and closed anal sacculectomy – for chronic or repeat cases
- Perineal hernia repair with internal obturator flap
- Feline perineal & canine prescrotal urethrostomy
- Cystotomy and nephrectomy – build confidence with soft tissue cases
- Excisional biopsy of inguinal lymph nodes
- Inguinal flap repair techniques – advancement & flank-fold
- Surgical decision-making & planning – how to choose the right approach
- Advanced tissue handling & suturing – refine your precision & efficiency
This workshop gives you the opportunity, guidance, and hands-on practice to take your surgical skills further, but what you take away and how you apply it back in practice is completely up to you.
Why This Workshop is Different
Hands-on Surgery
With 8.5 hours of practical surgical sessions, you’ll perform a wide range of perineal and urogenital procedures, including a perineal urethrostomy on your own specimen. More time operating means more confidence when you return to practice.
Learn from Specialists
This workshop brings together experienced specialist surgeons who love to teach. You’ll receive personalised tuition and feedback throughout, giving you insight into the nuances that make surgery safer, efficient, and more precise.
Realistic & Practical
Everything taught is designed to be realistic for everyday veterinary practice. You’ll leave with techniques, workflows, and recommendations you can implement straight away, not “someday.”
Advance Your Skills
Whether you’re already doing anal sacculectomies, cystotomies, or routine soft tissue surgery, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to improve your surgical skills to the next level. Embrace the challenge and discover new procedures to confidently offer in your practice.
Collaborative Learning Environment
Learn alongside fellow veterinarians in a supportive environment. The combination of specialist guidance, hands-on practice, and peer discussion ensures that you’ll return to practice more confident, skilled, and inspired.
This Workshop Helps You With:
Refining Your Surgical Techniques
Take your hands-on skills further by performing perineal and urogenital procedures. Learn subtle tissue handling, suturing techniques, and flap repair strategies that make challenging cases safer and more predictable.
Understanding the Nuances
Surgery is as much about decision-making as it is about technique. Gain insight into when and how to perform procedures like urethrostomies, cystotomies, and hernia repairs, and develop a deeper understanding of planning, approach, and post-operative considerations.
Expanding Your Surgical Toolkit
Build confidence with procedures that go beyond routine soft tissue surgery, including inguinal lymph node excisions, advanced flap repairs, and nephrectomy techniques. Return to practice with new skills you can incorporate immediately, expanding the surgical services you can offer your clients.
