Are you ready to take on next level TPLO surgeries?

This course provides a comprehensive skills extension for registered veterinary surgeons already performing TPLO.

In this weekend workshop, you’ll begin by performing either a modified cranial closing wedge osteotomy (mCCWO) & TPLO or a double-cut TPLO to address patients with an excessive tibial plateau angle. You will receive personalised feedback on your surgical technique, plus a full postoperative radiographic debrief.

Tutoring in advanced surgical techniques will follow, including how to deal with concurrent MPL as well as TPLO for small and toy breeds.

Finally, you’ll perform a technical TPLO revision surgery under specialist supervision, where you will learn how to deal with a common postoperative TPLO complication: a proximal tibial fracture.

This is a rare opportunity to get the technical feedback you need to extend your skills into more challenging cases. This workshop is suitable for registered veterinarians at GP, emergency, resident and membership levels with some TPLO experience.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop is a strictly limited CPD opportunity for registered veterinarians who are committed to orthopaedic surgery. Participants from general practice, referral surgery, emergency and residency programs are all welcome.

Upon registration, you will be asked to share details about your orthopaedics experience including:

  1. Completion of a hands-on basic fracture repair course
  2. Completion of a hands-on TPLO surgery course
  3. Confirmation that you have completed 50+ TPLO procedures in practice
  4. Confirmation that you work in a clinical role where you are actively performing TPLO as primary or assistant surgeon.

This is the perfect follow-on course for vets who have completed our introductory TPLO workshop and have since been performing TPLOs in practice.

If you’re not sure about whether this course is right for you, please get in touch and we can chat about your experience. Our goal is to make sure that you get the most out of your workshop with us. Email us at [email protected].

You already know that performing TPLO early improves outcomes and reduces complications, even when you’re only dealing with a partial tear. This hands-on workshop is designed to build on your experience and give you detailed, personalised feedback on your surgical technique.

This is an advanced-level course where you will have the opportunity to ask for help in tricky areas, refine your approach, and develop your next-level orthopaedic skills. You’ll have access to proven specialist educators who will show you how to approach complex cases of cruciate ligament disease, and you will perform your own revision surgery so you get first-hand experience in dealing with surgical complications.

If you’re serious about orthopaedics and you are driven to perform elegant, accurate work every time you cut, this course is for you. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to move your surgery to the next level and focus on your orthopaedic surgery development.

YOU CAN’T LEARN LIKE THIS ONLINE

This is where you come to learn the tips and tricks that are hard to find or difficult to understand from the literature. Surgical blogs and forums can’t compete with in-person CPD like this! As a participant at our TPLO Next Level workshop, you will spend most of the course in surgery and with four specialist surgeons onsite, you’ll get going sooner with advanced TPLO cases.

STIFLE REPAIR

  • TPLO with patellar luxation
  • Double-cut TPLO for eTPA
  • Modified cranial closing wedge osteotomy (mCCWO) for eTPA

AVOID MISTAKES & MANAGE COMPLICATIONS

Part of TPLO surgery is avoiding mistakes, pre-empting complications, and managing complications. As a surgeon with more advanced skills, you may find yourself revising your own surgery, or a case from another surgeon. You might also be asked for a second opinion, or to provide referral.

  • How erroneous D1, D2 & D3 measurements can impact your surgery
  • What happens when you blindly perform a TPLO too close to the TT
  • Why going too low is an avoidable mistake
  • Dealing with residual postoperative instability
  • Dealing with suboptimal postoperative function
  • TPLO revision surgery
  • Dealing with a postoperative proximal tibial fracture

Your clinical experience will have prepared you for this section of the workshop. With our education team, you’ll see how to revise and manage TPLO complications in practice and you’ll actually perform your own revision surgery as part of the course.
