Orthopaedic nursing

Wish you could do more for those complex canine elbows?

This CPD offers a time-efficient and cost-effective hybrid learning experience, delivered via online lecture content, case-based interactive discussion and a remotely supervised dry lab practical. Led by Dr Ben Walton, an RCVS specialist in Small Animal Surgery with over twenty years of surgical experience, this hybrid online course is definitely for vets with an interest in orthopaedics.

This course is for those who have pre-existing experience in basic fracture management and are looking to gain experience with anatomical plates, which will allow you to provide options for the management of humeral condylar fractures and fissures in your practice.

Getting it right the first time is key to managing these complex conditions, since anatomy and therefore scope to correct errors are limited. First time success stories are equally key to maintaining excellent client relations and patient outcomes, and ultimately job satisfaction. Humeral Condyle Fracture Techniques, our hybrid online course, will give you the educational opportunity to execute these surgeries safely and effectively.

Whether you’re a general practitioner with an interest and some basic experience in fracture management and orthopaedics or are working in an advanced, emergency or intern role, this CPD course offers you detailed, ground-up training in surgical management of humeral condylar fissures and fractures, including using anatomical plates.

Delivered online via a combination of lecture modules, interactive case-based discussion and a remotely supervised dry lab practical, it’s designed to fit into busy schedules by removing the legwork. We believe that our unique format offers the benefits of a face-to-face workshop, minus the travel; it also allows a truly economical option that won’t consume as much of your valuable CPD budget.

In the online modules, you’ll explore the causes and treatment options for humeral condylar fractures and humeral intracondylar fissures. Course lead and highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon Ben Walton presents a solid review of the latest thinking in aetiology, the differences in fracture presentations, and how these factors shape your treatment decisions. Case-based discussion and a remotely supervised dry lab then provide live expert feedback, allowing you immerse in the procedures, ask questions in the moment and add options to your clinical repertoire.

We pride ourselves on the friendly, inclusive and relaxed atmosphere that underpins all of our workshops, both face-to-face and remote. Engaging in the live online session provides you the opportunity to learn directly from a specialist in the field, ask questions, receive feedback and share clinical experiences with your colleagues along the way.

With our hybrid version of online learning, we’ve ensured that Humeral Condyle Fracture Techniques remains skills-based and highly applicable to the ‘real world’.  You’ll be exposed to imaging techniques, learn about implant selection, approach planning and of course, fissure and fracture reduction, stabilisation and radiographic evaluation.

Register today and join us in June 2025 to take your orthopaedic abilities to the next level, and join a thriving online community of vets dedicated to excellence in patient care
