This workshop delivers a practical educational experience that is immediately applicable to cases that are routinely encountered in clinics. You’ll have the opportunity for hands-on practice with equipment, where you’ll develop the art of maneuvering the scope, navigating challenging angles, and gaining the confidence to use the scope for both diagnostic and innovative applications. Pro Tips for Endoscopy in Clinical Practice

Compared to surgery, upper GI endoscopy and rhinoscopy provide a less invasive solution for foreign body retrieval, PEG tube placement, OG tube placement and versatile clinical applications. For general practitioners, emergency vets, and referral clinicians, a successful endoscopy means reduced anesthesia and procedure time – plus faster patient recovery.

But here’s the catch: mastering endoscopy takes hands-on practice. That’s why we’ve designed a two-day, in-person training course focused on practical skills – because no amount of lectures can replace real-world experience.

And for those daring enough to aim for the duodenum, a strategic head tilt and torso twist might just unlock your inner endoscopy superpower. We’ll show you how!

Jokes aside, we’re here to make endoscopy an intuitive, effective, and rewarding part of your diagnostic arsenal – whether you’re picking up a scope for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills.

Your skills will develop quickly with our experienced education team

  • Full procedural guidance from start to finish
  • Machine setup & image manipulation
  • Techniques for great images
  • Viable biopsy collection
  • Foreign body removal
  • PEG tube placement
  • Rhinoscopy
  • How to look cool while you’re scoping

A little word on equipment

The classic fibre optic endoscopes are still around, complete with their chunky eyepieces and missing fibres, alongside those insufflation systems that only function if the tubing is kinked just right. While it may seem obvious, it’s important to recognize that the quality of your equipment significantly impacts your experience and your ability to provide consistent diagnostic results. After years of struggling with fibre optic scopes, your lead educator and small animal internal medicine specialist, Dr Richard Burchell, recommends video endoscopy as the way forward. If you have one of these in your clinic, your endoscopy journey just became much easier.

If you’re in the market…

Participants in this workshop will train using high-quality video endoscopes with the ability for your colleagues to gather around and admire your skills. These are demonstration units supplied by our training partners, and you will have the opportunity to negotiate the purchase of brand new equipment if you’re keen. There is absolutely no obligation to buy anything. We’re just letting you know in case your clinic is interested in a new unit, and you’d like to try it out before you and your clinic make the investment.
