Why This Course is Different ?
Learn On Your Terms
CPD that works with your life. No travel, no shift swaps – just straightforward, flexible online learning. Can’t make it live? No stress, you’ll have access to the session recordings for 4 months.
Taught by Someone Who Gets It
Sabrina doesn’t just teach ECC, she lives it. You’ll learn from someone who understands the chaos, pressure & decision making of real clinic life.
Hands-On (Without the Hands)
Work through case studies that reflect the emergencies you’re likely to see in practice, from shock patients to toxin ingestions. Less theory, more thinking.
CPD That Actually Helps
This isn’t just another box to tick. It’s the kind of learning that clicks into place when you’re mid-shift and everything suddenly makes sense.
You're Not Alone
We’ve been where you are. Vet nursing can be tough, but also incredibly rewarding. We’re here to support you with training that feels relevant, respectful & real.
Course Outline
Module 1: Recognising and Responding to Shock
Shock is one of the most common and critical emergencies encountered in veterinary practice. In this module, we’ll explore the various definitions and classifications of shock, examine the clinical signs associated with each type, and discuss the body’s compensatory mechanisms in response to shock.
Module 2: Managing Pericardial Effusion in Cats & Dogs
Pericardial effusion is a relatively common condition in both cats and dogs. In this module, we’ll cover how to recognise the clinical signs of pericardial effusion, approaches to stabilisation, treatment options including pericardiocentesis, and key nursing considerations to support these patients effectively.
Module 3: Critical Care for the Diabetic Patient
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious and more commonly encountered condition in cats than in dogs. In this module, we’ll explore how DKA can be diagnosed, your role in the process, recognising the clinical signs, and understanding the nursing challenges these patients present. We’ll also discuss effective strategies for stabilisation and treatment.
Module 4: Emergency Management of Anaemia & Blood Transfusions
In this module, we’ll explore the different types of anaemia encountered in emergency settings, examine the diagnostic process, and cover the key principles of emergency treatment and nursing care. We’ll also cover the use of blood transfusions, including practical considerations and common challenges associated with transfusion therapy.
Module 5: Managing Paracetamol Toxicity in Cats & Dogs
Paracetamol toxicity is a common and potentially life-threatening emergency, particularly in cats. In this module, we’ll discuss why paracetamol is toxic to dogs – and even more so to cats. How to effectively triage and stabilise affected patients, and the specific nursing considerations required to support their recovery.
