Is This Workshop For You?

This workshop has been designed for registered veterinarians who are new to systematic abdominal ultrasound. We’ll cover everything you need to get started and some of the tricks you might have missed if you’re already using ultrasound in the clinic. In addition to hours of hands-on scanning practice, you’ll see how the experts hold and move the probe, and how they manipulate gain, focus, depth and other image optimisation tools to get the most out of ultrasound.

What you’ll cover:

  • Step-by-step guidance for performing a full, systematic abdominal ultrasound
  • Practical probe handling techniques and movement strategies
  • Tips for optimising image quality using gain, focus, depth and other key settings
  • Insights into how ultrasound supports both surgical and medical case work ups
  • Case-based learning from imaging and internal medicine specialists

No experience is necessary. Absolute beginners are welcome, and if you’re already scanning, you’ll be taking your imaging skills to the next level. Don’t miss this opportunity to embrace abdominal ultrasound as an important diagnostic tool at your fingertips. You’ll love meeting our kind and experienced teaching staff, and you’ll enjoy the relaxed and capable atmosphere of our workshops.

Why This Workshop is Different

Built for Beginners (and Early Scanners)

Whether you’ve had a crash course in ultrasound or none at all, this workshop is designed to meet you where you’re at. You’ll learn a systematic approach with expert-led guidance every step of the way.

Hands-On from the Start

This isn’t a sit-and-watch course. You’ll spend most of your time scanning live dogs with specialists by your side to guide, correct and support your learning.

Real Equipment, Real Cases

Train on high-quality ultrasound machines and scan a variety of canine patients. Every practical session relates directly to the cases you’ll see in clinic.

Specialist Access All Weekend

Our imaging and internal medicine specialists are with you the whole time, not just dropping in for a lecture. Get immediate answers and personalised feedback whenever you need it.

Learn the Right Way, Right Away

Start with good habits and build your technique with confidence. We’ll show you how to capture clear, diagnostic images and help you avoid common beginner pitfalls.

This Workshop Helps You With:

3 1

Image Optimisation and Interpretation

Get comfortable with the controls that matter: gain, depth, and focus to improve image quality and consistency. Build your confidence in recognising normal structures and echogenicities, so you’ll be able to identify when they appear abnormal.
