Qualifications: BVSc

John graduated from University of Melbourne in 1987 and early veterinary years were spent in dairy practice in Victoria, followed by two years working and travelling in Europe. In the early 90's John found himself 'on the road' in the Northern Territory and Western Australia and a two week visit to Broome in 1995 has never ended.
John started All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in 1998. "I loved Broome and the Kimberley from the outset, and decided this was the place for me to set up my practice." John concentrated on his strengths in small animal medicine and surgery and quickly developed a loyal following in the town.

Dr John Culvenor graduated in 1974 and spent many years at North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Sydney, where he established a strong reputation in clinical excellence. He became a specialist in Small Animal Medicine and has developed longstanding interests in laparoscopy, soft tissue surgery, and interventional procedures.

Specialisation: Registered Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology

John is a University of Queensland graduate and a registered specialist in veterinary dermatology. He set up North Kent Referrals in the UK, a multi-disciplinary referral practice in the south of England, which he owned and ran until its sale in 2012.

John’s clinical interests include the management of allergic skin disease in dogs, immune mediated skin disorders, and all aspects of feline and equine dermatology. John has regularly presented on the subject of veterinary dermatology to veterinary surgeons and nurses in Europe, Asia and Australia.

John is a clinical academic at the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, and has taught small animal medicine and surgery to final year students since 2008. John is a member of the ANZCVS and is the current Chair of Membership in General Practice, Small Animals. John is also a long-standing examiner for the Australian Veterinary Boards Council. John is a recipient of the Trevor Heath Teaching Excellence Award as well as holding a Deans Commendation for Effective Teaching.

Dr Josh moved to Australia from New York in 1999 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He completed his Veterinary Science degree with Honours at the University of Queensland, and a Masters of Clinical Medicine and Surgery through Murdoch University.

He has a keen understanding of the joys and the pitfalls of working with herps, and now works almost exclusively with these animals. He says "This is an area where we are continuously growing and improving based on the latest research, continued education and communication with experts in the field.”

Qualifications: BVSc, MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery and Small Animal Medicine), MVetClinStud (Neurology)

Julian has worked at Veterinary Specialist Services (VSS) in Qld and Animal Referral and Emergency Centre (AREC) in NSW. He has also been a clinician and teacher at the University of Sydney, James Cook University and the University of Queensland.

He has memberships in both small animal medicine and small animal surgery and completed his surgical residency in 2007 with time at Murdoch University and Colorado State University. He also has a Masters of Veterinary Clinical Studies.

Julian has experience in all areas of surgery from cardiothoracic, oncology and vascular to orthopaedic, neurological and trauma. He is a passionate teacher and is keen to share real-world surgery with both undergraduate students and postgraduate veterinary surgeons.

Karen is a specialist veterinary clinical pathologist who is passionate about undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary education, as well as diagnostic clinical pathology.

She now works in diagnostics, holds an honorary academic position back at University of Queensland and teaches in postgraduate veterinary education.

Her specific interests are in haematology, transfusion medicine, snake venom research and oncology.

Qualifications: BVSc (Hons), BPsySc

Kat graduated with a BVSc (Hons) from UQ in 2012 and has worked in small animal practice and veterinary specialty administration. Her lived experience with suicide and mental health challenges led to a passion for supporting veterinary professionals' wellbeing. She holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science and is a LivingWorks safeTALK and ASIST trainer. As an NDIS behaviour support practitioner, she works with people with complex needs in multi-disciplinary teams. Kat is particularly interested in organisational psychology and systemic, evidence-based approaches to workforce wellbeing.
