Dr Adam Whitelock
Qualifications: BVSc(Hons) GC-SAUA MANZCVS (ECC)
Adam graduated as a veterinarian from The University of Queensland (UQ) in 2019 and undertook a rotating internship at UQ while he also worked in emergency practices throughout Brisbane. Throughout his internship he developed a keen interest in critical care, anaesthesia and ultrasound, completing a post-graduate certificate in small animal abdominal ultrasound during this time.
In 2022 Adam began a residency in small animal emergency and critical care at UQ. During his residency, Adam also took on a Master's in Science (anaesthesia and analgesia) and a Doctor of Veterinary Clinical Science developing research interests in vascular ultrasound and equine analgesia.
Dr Aisha Young
Qualifications: DVM DACVR
Specialisation: Diagnostic Imaging
Starting with a veterinary degree from the University of California: Davis, Aisha’s interest in specialisation led her to pursue continuing education in the US, the Caribbean, and Canada. She completed her residency training program at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, acquiring her certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (DipACVR). Aisha worked as a radiologist in the US and Canada, as well as at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne prior to co-founding Vet Waves, a mobile ultrasound business. Aisha enjoys teaching, particularly in small groups, and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Teaching (GCCT) to deepen her understanding of teaching and learning. Aisha enjoys all aspects of radiology but has a particular interest in ultrasound.
Dr Andrea Schaffer-White
Qualifications: BVSc, BA, Postgrad.Dip.Ed.
Specialisation: Anatomic Pathology
Graduating from the University of Queensland (UQ) in 2007, Andrea spent several years in mixed and small animal practice before completing her residency in anatomic pathology at UQ in 2014. Andrea continued to work at the UQ Pathology Department, enjoying teaching vet students and participating in various research projects.
In 2015, she headed up the opening of a new small and privately-owned veterinary pathology laboratory in Brisbane, where she now spends her days reviewing cases, reading biopsies, interpreting cytology samples and providing a lifeline to vets!
Dr Ann Thompson
Qualifications: BVSc MACVSc MS DIP ACVIM(SAIM)
Specialisation: Small Animal Internal Medicine
Ann loves teaching and in 2013 led the small animal medicine referral service at UQ, completed a teaching qualification and taught both veterinary technology and veterinary science students. Ann’s current areas of clinical interest are endocrinology, urinary tract disease, non-invasive diagnostic imaging, and continuing professional development through veterinary education.
Dr Annie Rose
Qualifications: BVSc(Hons) BVetBiol MVS MVSc GradCert(ClinEd) FANZCVS(Radiology)
Specialisation: Veterinary Radiologist
Annie has worked within the field of radiology for many years, both here in Australia and overseas, and has worked in teaching positions for over a decade. After completing her Masters degree and residency program at the University of Melbourne, Annie has now returned to Queensland to work in private referral practice as a Diagnostic Imaging specialist. Annie has developed a strong interest in clinical teaching and has been teaching abdominal ultrasound for over 15 years to practitioners.
Dr Arthur House
Qualifications: BSc, BVMS, PhD, Cert SAS, Dip ECVS
Specialisation: Small Animal Surgery
Arthur is a registered specialist in small animal surgery with over 20 years of experience and an extensive range of specialist surgical skills.
He has a PhD in veterinary research and has been published in a broad range of publications and peer reviewed journals. He is involved in collaborative research which ensures he stays at the forefront of veterinary science, offering the latest treatments for his patients.
Arthur continues to be active in veterinary postgraduate training through provision of continuing education lectures, supervision of new graduates, surgical interns and residents, and he has also been an author in several textbooks.
Dr Bonny Cumming
Qualifications: BVSc (Hons1) MVS (Cons Med)
Specialisation: Program Manager - Strategic Delivery with AMRRIC
Bonny joined the AMRRIC team in October 2013 having been a strong supporter since volunteering on an AMRRIC dog health program in Kintore in 2008.
Bonny has a keen interest in One Health principles, combining community development, animal health and welfare and conservation to improve animal, human and ecosystem health. She is a veterinarian, has a Masters in Veterinary Conservation Medicine, and has worked in private veterinary practice, animal shelters, zoos and wildlife hospitals.
Bonny thoroughly enjoys getting out into the field and has been fortunate to use her degree to travel widely, working in remote locations with a variety of species amid various cultures. Bonny feels extremely privileged to work for AMRRIC, utilising her veterinary training for ‘big picture’ issues with vast reach.
Dr Brenton Chambers
Qualifications: BVSc(Hons), MVSc, FANZCVS Small Animal Surgery
Specialisation: Small Animal Surgery
Dr Chambers graduated in 1994 from the University of Queensland, and spent his early career in general and emergency practice. He became a registered specialist in Small Animal Surgery in 2013. Brenton works in specialist referral practice at the Centre for Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) in Melbourne, with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery. Brenton is an experienced educator and says the fine nuance of surgical procedures are learned from doing and watching others. He reminds all vets to keep in touch and support each other.
Dr Brian Beale
Qualifications: DVM, DACVS, ACVS Fellow Minimally Invasive Surgery - Orthopedics
Specialisation: Surgery
Dr Beale graduated from The University of Florida in 1985 and completed his internship in Washington, D.C. followed by a surgical residency at The University of Florida. He became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1991. Dr Beale was an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine prior to joining Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in 1992. Dr Beale is a co-author of the industry-defining textbook, Small Animal Arthroscopy. Dr Beale currently owns and performs surgery at H-Town Veterinary Specialists (Houston, TX), Nexus Veterinary Specialists (Baltimore, MD and Victoria, TX), Bark City Veterinary Specialists (Park City, UT) and Nexus Veterinary Education.
Dr Brian Shen
Qualifications: BVSc (Hons)
Brian is a second-year resident with Dermatology for Animals. He enjoys the client education aspect and the complex nature of the field. Brian likes the complex and technical aspects of dermatology, from working up allergy cases to performing video-otoscopy and ear flushes.
His goal in veterinary education is to help GP vets feel more comfortable with managing dermatology cases.
