Is This Workshop For You?

This workshop is designed for registered veterinarians who already perform TPLO and want to extend their skills to more challenging cases, techniques as well as learn to better manage complications as they arise. It’s suitable for vets in general practice, referral or residency programs, but you’ll need solid hands-on TPLO experience to get the most from the weekend.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Perform advanced TPLO techniques for excessive tibial plateau angles, including double-cut TPLO and mCCWO
  • Approach TPLO in small and toy breed dogs and cases with concurrent medial patellar luxation
  • Recognise and manage intraoperative challenges and postoperative complications
  • Assess alignment, instability, screw placement and postoperative radiographs with greater confidence
  • Perform a TPLO revision for a postoperative proximal tibial fracture
  • Refine your surgical technique through personalised feedback from specialist surgeons

Entry requirements: You’ll need to have completed a hands-on basic fracture repair course and hands-on TPLO course, have performed 50+ TPLO procedures, and currently be working in a clinical role where you perform TPLO as a primary or assistant surgeon.

Why This Workshop is Different

Hands-On

You’ll perform TPLO techniques, including surgery for excessive tibial plateau angles, TPLO in small and toy breeds, concurrent patellar luxation and a technical revision. You’ll receive personalised feedback, helping you to refine your surgical technique as you work.

Specialist Support

With four specialist surgeons onsite, you’ll have experienced surgical educators beside you as you work through challenging cases. Ask questions in the moment, get feedback on your technique and discuss tricky decisions that come up during surgery.

Beyond Routine

Move beyond routine TPLO and tackle cases requiring different techniques and surgical decisions. You’ll explore excessive tibial plateau angles, concurrent MPL, small and toy breeds, rotational instability and cases that no longer fit the standard TPLO pathway.

When Things Go Wrong

Recognise and learn about managing complications including residual instability, suboptimal postoperative function and proximal tibial fracture. You’ll also perform your own technical revision surgery, giving you opportunity to experience managing a complication rather than simply discussing it.

Real-Time Feedback

You’ll work alongside specialist surgeons to assess rotation, alignment, screw direction and length, plate positioning and other challenging surgical decisions, with personalised feedback as you go.

Advanced TPLO Techniques

Explore double-cut TPLO and mCCWO for excessive tibial plateau angles, plus TPLO in small and toy breeds, concurrent MPL and lateral suture techniques in large breeds. You’ll work through the technical considerations for each approach and when these techniques may be appropriate.

Smarter Surgical Decisions

Refine your approach to joint assessment, rotation, alignment and plate positioning, including screw direction and length. Learn techniques to manage instability during surgery, including internal bracing and anti-rotational sutures.

Addressing Common Questions

"I don’t have time to take off work. Why should I attend?"

Because this is the kind of workshop that pays time back in practice.

If you’re doing a lot of TPLOs, you will inevitably encounter these tricky cases.  This workshop gives you the opportunity to learn by doing, building practical skills you can take straight back to your clinic so that you can walk into theater feeling confident and well prepared.

One focused weekend could open up a whole new range of surgical options for your patients.

"Can I split the payment between myself and my workplace?"

Yes. If you have a CE budget available through your clinic or workplace, we’re happy to arrange split invoicing to help make registration easier.

Many participants choose to divide the workshop cost between their employer contribution and personal payment. Simply contact the VetPrac team ([email protected]) prior to registration and we can help organise the invoicing arrangement for you.

"Will I actually be able to apply these skills?"

This workshop centers on hands-on learning, featuring wet-lab sessions where you’ll perform double-cut TPLO, mCCWO, TPLO on small breeds with concurrent MPL and a TPLO revision.

You won’t leave as a specialist, you’ll leave with practical skills, greater confidence and more surgical options you can apply to your very next case.

"Will I receive CPD points, a certificate, and learning materials?"

Yes. Every participant in the TPLO Next Level Workshop will earn CPD points and receive a personalised CPD certificate, emailed within seven days of the workshop. You’ll also receive comprehensive learning materials, including digital course notes and a printed practical guide, so you can continue revisiting key techniques and tips long after the workshop.

"What happens if I need to cancel or the workshop is cancelled?"

If you need to transfer or change your registration to another workshop, an administration fee of $50 applies. Cancellations made within 45 days of the workshop start date will incur a fee equal to 50% of the course investment, and cancellations within 7 days of commencement are non-refundable.

If VetPrac needs to cancel your registration to the TPLO Next Level Workshop, your course fees will be refunded in full. Please note that VetPrac cannot be held responsible for any travel, accommodation or other associated expenses incurred.
