Biography:

Kat graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2006 with a love of equine medicine and neurology. After two years in mixed practice and a cruciate injury forcing her into more and more small animal work, she eventually saw the light and decided to up-skill her companion animal abilities. Ten years later, an internship, residency and set of board exams she is now a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. During her residency she developed a more focused interest in airway disease and particularly the pathophysiology of brachycephalic dogs. During normal hours she is a Senior Lecturer in Companion Animal Surgery at Massey University, New Zealand and in her spare time is in the early stages of a PhD working towards understanding the welfare, anatomical and physiological challenges faced by brachycephalic breeds.
